Restoring Lives Through Advanced Regenerative Healing

Synergy Advanced Wound Care is proud to specialize in Medicare-approved advanced modern treatments and regenerative amniotic therapies that heal wounds that were once thought untreatable.

Advancing Wound Care Through Amniotic Innovation

Amniotic Membrane Allograft

Amniotic membrane allografts are human tissue grafts derived from the amniotic membrane - the innermost layer of the placenta. This membrane is rich in growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix components that promote natural healing and tissue regeneration.

Rest assured, all tissues are ethically donated by mothers following healthy, full-term births in the U.S. Each graft is carefully screened, sterilized, and preserved to ensure the highest standards of safety and medical quality.

Understanding Amniotic Membrane Therapy for Wound Healing

How Are Amniotic Allografts Used in Wound Care?

The amniotic allograft is a thin, translucent, dehydrated tissue used as a wound covering in various procedures to support tissue repair and healing. It functions like a biological bandage - protecting the wound site while stimulating the body’s natural healing response.

Why Are They So Effective?

The amniotic allograft helps activate the body’s natural healing response by releasing powerful growth factors, cytokines, and chemokines that attract and guide the body’s repair cells to the wound site. This regenerative process, known as chemotaxis, helps "reset" stalled healing phases often seen in chronic or non-healing wounds.

What Are The Benefits of Amniotic Allografts?

Clinical studies have shown that patients receiving amniotic grafts heal faster and with higher rates of wound closure compared to traditional care:

  • Reduces inflammation by calming the wound environment
  • Fights infection due to its natural antimicrobial properties
  • Promotes new tissue growth by creating a scaffold for your own cells to rebuild
  • Stimulates healing from growth factors like EGF that help “restart” the healing process
  • Minimizes scarring by reducing fibrosis and supporting a smoother recovery

Are Amniotic Allograft Applications Painful?

Applying an allograft on a wound is similar to applying a band aid and completely painless!

What Occurs During the Allograft Procedure?

The procedure for applying an amniotic membrane allograft typically involves the following steps:

  • Preparation – The area to be treated is cleaned and prepared.
  • Application – The amniotic membrane allograft is applied to the wound or surgical site, where it acts as a natural bandage. The membranes are often secured with sutures or adhesives and eventually integrate with the body.
  • Monitoring – After application, the site is monitored for proper integration and healing.

Regardless of what occurs during each application visit, our care team will guide patients through each step and communicate any additional needs and progress notes with family members, care teams, and coordinating providers.

Are Allograft Treatments Covered by Medicare?

Yes!  After a quick verification process, most non-healing chronic wounds are approved my Medicare Part B - after 4 weeks of traditional care.
